About

Iris Ztarr was born in Helsinki, Finland, and emigrated to Australia with her parents when she was 2 and a half years old.
Iris discovered, in her late 40's when caregiving for her mother, that she had an innate talent for colour. She began creating vibrant and colourful mosaics of animals, sea creatures and flowers from handmade art glass. She studied with American artist Shiloh Sophia McCloud, becoming a Colour of Woman painting teacher and Intentional Creativity Coach, using the Intentional Creativity method to help women heal their own core wounds and limiting beliefs about themselves as powerful, creative beings.
It wasn't until her early 60's that Iris started painting on a consistent level after studying with the Milan Art Institute, where she first experimented with oil paints. Iris thrives when creating paintings that are richly vibrant and full of colour. Iris loves sharing her unique creative expression with her collectors. Her studio is in the beautiful, subtropical, mid north coast of NSW, Australia, where she lives with her adventurous partner Tim.
Iris finds inspiration for her paintings in nature: exotic birds, endangered animal species and plants, as well as the imaginal realm. Symbolic elements and power animals have healing messages for both herself and her collectors.

Iris loves to work in mixed media using collage, spray paints, acrylics, oils and oil pastels to enhance her work. The feeling of timelessness and connection to the creative spirit of the Universe is the reward of being present in the flow. There is endless possibility and potential in every breath and brushstroke we take.
